PROPERTIES :
Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic of the tetracycline family. It inhibits the bacterial protein synthesis and has an activity against a wide range of Gram- and Gram+ bacteria (Pasteurella haemolytica, Mycoplasma bovis, Corynebacterium spp., Moraxella bovis, E. coli,
Salmonella spp., Fusobacterium spp. Bacteroides spp., Anaplasma spp., Leptospira grippo-typhosa ictero haemorragiae, Actinobacillus spp.).
INDICATIONS :
Cattle, sheep, goat:
Treatment of infectious diseases due to germs sensitive to oxytetracycline such as:
-respiratory diseases, uro-genital diseases, foot diseases and infectious kerato-conjunctivitis in cattle.
-Respiratory diseases (Pasteurella haemolytica, Mycoplasma bovis, Corynebacterium spp.)
- Respiratory diseases linked to transport (shipping-fever) -Keratoconjunctivitis (Moraxella Bovis)
-Infectious gastro-enteritis (E. coli, Salmonella spp.)
-Metritis, mastitis (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., E. coli)
-Infectious abortion (Brucella spp., Chlamydia spp., Rickettsia spp.)
-Foot rot (Fusobacterium spp., Bacteroides spp.) -Anaplasmosis (Anaplasma spp.), leptospirosis (Leptospira grippo-typhosa, ictero-hemorragiae), actinobacillosis (Actinobacillus spp.).
ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
Intramuscular injection. The usual dosage is 20 mg oxytetracycline/kg bodyweight (ie 1 ml of TENALINE 20% L.A. for 10 kg LBW) in one injection with a maximal volume per injection site of: 20 ml for cattle, 5 ml for sheep and goat.
PRECAUTIONS
Some slight and transitory reactions may occur at the injection site. Thus, it is recommended to take care of the volume injected in the same site and to inject in two sites one far from the other when several sites are required. Use carefully in case of renal failure.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat: 21 days. Milk: 7 days (14 milkings).
STORAGE
Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C away from light and to be used within 28 days after opening when stored at temperature not exceeding 25°C.
